ESG Today reports that the fund, which was launched last year, exceeded the desired target of 1.5 billion USD and it's also the largest fund raised so far by Paine Schwartz. Fund VI is focused on sustainable investments in the food and agribusiness sector and the VC already deployed about 40% of it. AgroFresh Solutions, Monterey Mushrooms and Elemental Enzymes are some of those who already benefited from some of the 1.7 billion funding.

Productivity and sustainability are the two main pillars which officials at Paine Schwartz will be using when deciding which companies are next to receive financing.

Kevin Schwartz, Chief Executive Officer of Paine Schwartz said that "with Fund VI, we are continuing to invest to feed a growing population better food with more efficient use of resources. Food and agribusiness has been the fastest growing sector for more than 15 years and continues to be underserved by the investment community."
