General Motors returns to Europe, plans to offer only EVs

General Motors officials confirmed that the American company will be coming back to Europe with a lineup of electric vehicles.

According to Electrive, the news came as part of the announcement that Jaclyn McQuaid has been appointed President and CEO of GM Europe.

The plan to return to the European market started in November 2021, when GM considered returning to the continent after the EV market started to gain traction among drivers.

The new CEO of GM Europe said that "European customers are switching to electric vehicles at a faster rate than anywhere in the world, and GM is investing $35 billion through 2025 in electric and autonomous vehicle technology to be a major driver of our industry’s transformation."

While General Motors confirmed that the EVs that are to come to Europe will be based on the company's Ultium platform, it did not disclose which models will be making their way to the continent.
