As per ESG Today, Suzano Ventures provided the cash for the team at the startup which aims to revolutionize the way we create EV-grade batteries. UK-founded Allotrope Energy began its journey back in 2016, when researchers were looking at ways of improving the charging speeds of lithium-ion batteries, while making the cells safer, at the same time.

The interesting part is that Allotrope Energy uses carbon derived from biomaterials, such as wood, instead of using cobalt, nickel and other rare earth elements, materials that are found in finite quantities.

Allotrope Energy CEO Dr Peter Wilson, said that "working with Suzano we get access to a critical raw material that is sustainably produced, alongside the commercial and technical expertise and global reach from working with a major multinational business. It comes at a time when we see an increasing global interest in exploring new battery technologies which offer broad appeal across a range of industries."
