ESG Today writes that Unifuel aims to make it easier for SAF manufacturers to produce higher yields of fuel using the limited raw resources available on the market. The company's production process, dubbed Flexiforming can be applied to existing manufacturing systems, which involve the use of fatty acids and cooking oil, cutting costs by 50%, as well as lowering the emissions associated with production by 75%.

Unifuel's technology can also be adapted to generate high-quality sustainable fuels for the aviation industry from other sources, as well, such as ethanol, methanol and liquified petroleum gas (LPG).

Alexei Beltyukov, CEO of Universal Fuel Technologies, said that "sustainable aviation depends upon developing SAF that is not only cost-effective but able to work within the aviation industry as it stands today. With Flexiforming, we can give SAF producers the ability to make affordable, high-quality SAF that has the characteristics needed for aircraft performance and the flexibility to scale at their own rate."

TO VC led the funding round, which saw participation from Alchemist Accelerator, Claire Technologies and World Star Aviation.
