According to 24/7 Wall St, experts at the U.S. Global Change Research Program claim that the world's sea level has increased by more than 20 centimeters since 1880, while in the past two and a half decades, they rose by nearly 8 centimeters. What's worse is that the growth rate is expected to increase faster than ever before.

As climate change overall gets worse and worse, temperatures and water levels increase, but in some cases, water also becomes scarcer and depending on these factors, but not only, a list of 25 cities that could become uninhabitable was made by 24/7 Wall St.

Oslo in Norway is considered to be the 25th worst city to live in long-term, due to the impact of sea level rises and average temperature increases. From the current 6.6 degrees Celsius average, Oslo is expected to hit nearly 9 by mid-century.

New York is the next city on the list where living in the future may not be as bright as it is today for the almost 19 million people who inhabit it. By 2050, the city is expected to be the world's 14th with regards to the effects of sea level rises, while the temperatures are believed to increase from a current average of 12 degrees Celsius up to almost 15.

It's no secret that Amsterdam is in danger due to the steady, but surely increase in sea level. With the second most severe impact from this cause, Amsterdam is one of the most uncertain urban settlements in the world with regards to its inhabitability, despite the fact that rising temperatures won't affect it that much.

Still, the worst city to live in by mid-century, according to the list made by 24/7 Wall St is Bangkok, in Thailand. The southeastern Asian city is expected to be the worst hit by the rising sea levels, as well as suffering from the rising temperatures. While the temperatures in Bangkok won't jump much compared to today's values, it's important to note that present-day average temperatures in the capital of Thailand are already very high. Thus, from 28.3 degrees Celsius, Bangkok could surpass the 30 degree mark by mid-century.

There are other urban settlements that will be affected by climate change-related events, some more than others. The geographical position and the landscape of the cities play major roles in how well they'll be able to fight global warming, but as soon as these 25 cities start to crumble, the entire world could suffer.
