ESG Today writes that 2014-founded Dimensional Energy uses captured CO2 emissions to produce sustainable fuel for aircraft, this being the most accessible way to cut emissions from the aviation industry.

United Airlines is one of Dimensional's main customers, as the American airline company signed an agreement for the delivery of 300 million tons of SAF over a period of two decades back in 2022.

United Airlines Ventures Managing Director Andrew Chang, said that "there’s no question that building the SAF industry from the ground up will take time and capital, but it’s innovative companies like Dimensional that are leading the transition to a more sustainable future. That’s why we have made a second investment and plan to continue to support Dimensional’s efforts to scale its operation to help create the SAF that our airline needs."

One of the initiatives which will be fueled by the financing is the construction of what could be the world's first advanced power-to-liquid (PtL) fuels plant, which will accelerate the production of clean fuels.

Dimensional Energy CEO Jason Salfi said that "as a technology company, we work with third parties to verify our performance, carbon intensity, and full life cycle analysis. The same needs to be true when it comes to other environmental and social equity claims."

Envisioning Partners, United Airlines’ Sustainable Flight Fund and Microsoft’s Climate Innovation Fund were some of the leading VCs that participated in the 20 million financing round.
