This initiative is an integral part of the national program "Planting Good Deeds in Romania", carried out in partnership with the EcoAssist Association, which Garanti BBVA has supported since 2022. The project underscores the bank's strategic commitment to social responsibility and environmental protection.
"Initially, the project was built around the idea of one tree planted for each employee. However, given its success, we continued planting good deeds in 2024 without limiting ourselves to the number of employees. In this context, Garanti BBVA reaffirms its commitment to sustainability by continuing the initiative for the third consecutive year, into 2025," said Virginia Oțel, Corporate Communication Director, Garanti BBVA Romania.
3.200 saplings planted in 2024
In 2024, bank volunteers participated in multiple planting sessions in both spring and autumn, contributing to the reforestation of affected areas in the counties of Ilfov, Iași, Cluj, and Buzău. Their efforts resulted in over 3.200 saplings being planted.
At this steady pace, Garanti BBVA Forest is set to surpass 10.000 trees planted within a few years, focusing on regions severely impacted by deforestation and drought.
"Through the Garanti BBVA Forest project, we contribute to environmental protection and the development of local communities. Additionally, these planting activities allow us to connect outside the workplace, fostering genuine bonds among colleagues, our life partners, and even our children. Year after year, planting after planting, we are becoming a more united and stronger team," added Virginia Oțel.
