According to ESG Today, Massachusetts-based 6K develops advanced materials for the production of lithium-ion batteries, as well as various additives for metal-making, offering more planet-friendly alternatives to current technologies. The company's solutions enable it to produce important materials quicker and at larger scale, while lowering energy use, the carbon footprint and employing recycled materials.
Officials at 6k said that the new funds will enable the company to produce battery cathode active materials (CAM) at large scale and to expand the production of the additives necessary for manufacturing metal powders.
The funding round included participation from Anzu Partners, Energy Impact Partners, as well as LaunchCapital.
Saurabh Ullal, CEO for 6K, said that "this scaling to full production is enabled by our Battery Center of Excellence that has the capacity today to produce up to 1 ton per month of CAM to support multiple customer qualifications."
