Hungary moves to ban cultivated meat. What could this mean for the European food system?

The EU Commission found Hungary’s cultivated meat ban unnecessary and unjustified, with four other EU member states highlighting possible disruption to the EU single market. Similar plans in Romania face scrutiny and could fail to comply with EU law. The first applications for authorizing the sale cultivated meat products are still in the process of being evaluated by EU authorities.
