As per Euronews.green, five cities in Spain, as well as others from Austria, Germany, Sweden, Denmark and Romania, have been awarded Label of the EU Mission for Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities.

Valencia, Zaragoza, Manheim and Cluj-Napoca are four of the ten awarded cities that plan to become climate neutral by 2030, for which they already have a pretty solid plan.

Officials at the European Commission said that "they will act as experimentation and innovation hubs to enable all European cities to follow suit by 2050."

Stockholm recently announced that it plans to ban all petrol and diesel-powered cars from its downtown area to reduce pollution, rules that will come into force at the very end of 2024.

Valencia, Europe's Green Capital for 2024, started using street lamps to charge its EVs last year, while Madrid is working on implementing a fully net-zero public transport solution.

Maros Sefcovic, Vice-President of the European Commission, said that investors will be easier to attract in green project in all these cities due to the fact that "the plans are good, realistic and have been certified by the best experts in the European Commission."
