In Romania, 500.000 single-use plastic or cardboard packages are being used for online purchases. What's worse is that for the cardboard alone more than 250.000 trees are being cut every year.

The impact on the environment is huge, considering that Romania doesn't have a good enough recycling system: most of these materials end up burning, contributing to air pollution through CO2 emissions and other gases.

To help with this issue, R-CREATE comes with a circular economy solution, to respond to this market need.

R-CREATE offers online shops an alternative to traditional packaging, a reusable transport package, based on a dedicated return system.

The solution consists of the physical prototype and the dedicated logistic flows - through the solutions developed by Postis.

In 2020, R-CREATE and Postis debuted with their first project of this kind, in collaboration with Cărturești.

The pilot project proposed the delivery of books in their original packaging and sealed in a R-CREATE bag - the customer opened it, took the contents and returned the bag to the courier, which then took it back for it to be cleaned and reused up to 20 times.

When the bag can't be reused anymore, R-CREATE makes sure that it will be collected and recycled properly.

How does it work?

As a precondition, you must have a delivery contract with DPD and the tag for returnable product. The option must be mentioned with opt-in on the site, on the check-out page, under the form of DPD Delivery in returnable package.

Based on estimates, R-CREATE sends packages in your warehouse, where the products will be packaged.

The algorithms behind the program are just as important, ensuring the continuity of the process.

To be exact, the whole process of informing the operators of fulfilment and delivery regarding the buyer's option to use a recyclable type of package, generating AWB's, the tracking and management of returns are being taken care of with the Postis platform.

R-CREATE is a clean tech startup that promotes circular economy solutions.

In 2020, the company signed important partnerships with two of the e-commerce players in Romania, Fan Courier and Cărturești and at the time the value of the company was estimated at 1.250.000 euro.
