As per ESG Today, Rotterdam-based Paebbl was founded in 2021 and it was able to develop a system that accelerates the natural process of CO2 mineralization. The CO2 captured by the company is being stored permanently in building materials around 10 million times faster than it would happen normally, offering a carbon-negative alternative to the construction industry, responsible for a lot of today's pollution.
Paebbl officials explain that each kilogram of produced construction material contains around 15-30% CO2 emissions of its entire composition.
Andreas Saari, co-CEO and co-founder of Paebbl, said that "this funding enables us to execute even faster with our customers and leap ahead towards our objective to make the built environment a cornerstone of the decarbonized economy. With the new funding, we are actively expanding our existing hubs in Helsinki, Rotterdam, and Stockholm, while also opening a new hub in the UK in the near future."
In just one year, from May 2023 to May 2024, Paebbl was able to increase the production of sustainable construction materials from a few kilograms per day to around one ton in the same amount of time.
Any thoughts?
