Thus, over 330,000 seedlings will be planted in mini-urban forests in 20 cities, including Bucharest, Constanta, Giurgiu and Craiova.

Christina Verchere, CEO of OMV Petrom, said that, " <<Romania plants for tomorrow>> is part of our broader strategy to build a sustainable future for communities and society as a whole."

In 2023, the project "Romania plants for tomorrow" will focus mainly on creating miniature urban forests. This concept was introduced in Romania by OMV Petrom and was implemented in 5 localities: Moinești, Bucharest, Giurgiu, Buftea and Urziceni. The urban miniature forest is designed to improve air quality, reduce noise, increase biodiversity and reduce the greenhouse effect.

At the same time, the plantings in the rural area will continue, in the areas which need intervention, with about 180,000 seedlings for plantings outside the cities.

Launched in 2020, "Romania plants for tomorrow" is one of the largest privately funded planting initiative in Romania. Between 2020 and 2022, 10,000 volunteers forested over 450 hectares during 60 planting actions, with a contribution of EUR 5.7 million.

The afforestation actions are carried out with the support of six NGOs recognized for their contributions to environmental protection in Romania – Act for Tomorrow, Mai Mult Verde, Plantăm fapte bune în România, Pădurea Copiilor, Viitor Plus and the Văcăreşti Natural Park Association.
