ESG Today writes that Western Rivers Conservancy (WRC) is a conservation project managed by Oregon-based NGO 3Degrees, which generates carbon credits and sustainable timber revenue, contributing to the well-being of the ecosystems and local communities.

3Degrees officials said that revenue from selling the generated carbon credits was invested in acquiring the land of the Yurok tribe, giving it back to the native people. The revenue that continues to flow from the project will also be redirected towards supporting the tribe.

Brian Marrs, Senior Director of Energy and Carbon Removal at Microsoft, said that "3Degrees is providing carbon removals that meet our quality criteria. Microsoft’s purchase of carbon removal credits from this project supports our near-term climate goals via a diversified portfolio of carbon removal."
