As per ESG Today, the 2022-founded IBM Sustainability Accelerator uses the technology and expertise from IBM to support non-profit and government initiatives aimed at boosting the resilience of communities in the face of natural disasters. So far, the initiative helped support 15 global projects in areas such as sustainable agriculture and clean energy production.

For the upcoming cohort, IBM officials announced that it will focus on solutions that boost a city's ability to deal with environmental changes, aligned with UN's SDG 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities.

IBM also announced a strategic collaboration with global professional services company EY, which will offer support in the selection process, as well as coaching and organizational issues.

Justina Nixon-Saintil, IBM Vice President and Chief Impact Officer, said that "we look forward to working with a new cohort of partners to transform the cities we live in, and to deploy solutions that harness the potential of artificial intelligence to build a more resilient future."
