ESG Today writes that the French company operates in 20 countries and offers various water management services, such as wastewater treatment and drinking water supply, as well as developing water management infrastructure. Saur is the first water utility company in Europe to issue a blue bond, which is used for sustainable water management projects.
Thus, the 550 million euros funding will be used to support new or existing blue projects that are aligned to the company's Green & Blue Financing Framework. Some of the initiatives Saur looks to finance are those in water production and distribution, wastewater treatment and desalinization using technologies that have a minimal impact on the environment.
Patrick Blethon, Executive Chairman of the Saur Group, said that "by becoming the first issuer of Blue Bonds in the water sector, Saur affirms its leadership and visionary commitment to more sustainable water resource management. This operation sends a clear message to our partners and investors: at Saur, innovation and environmental responsibility are the drivers of our growth."
