According to Tech.eu, the funding round was led by investment fund Racine and Raise Seed for Good.

Helios, the Paris-based neo bank, was founded in 2020 by Maeva Courtois and Julia Ménayas, who aim to offer a new sustainable and ecological banking solution in order to limit global warming.

The founders also stated that the neo bank won't finance any polluting industries, such as oil or coal.

Helios is also different from traditional banks in the way that it is transparent with regards to the destination of the financing.

In order to improve the business, the company wants to hire over 20 people this year in marketing, mobile development and data.

Helios is also rolling out a new product in the form of sustainable savings account, crowdsourced with its community of users. Through this, the neo bank aims to reach 100.000 customers and a 30 million euro investment by 2023.

Maeva Courtois, co-founder of Helios, said that " If 10 years ago neo banks invented a digital banking experience focused on mobile usage and instant notifications, with Helios we are changing the rules of banking towards more transparency and a real commitment to climate action. For €6 per month, our users can manage their accounts easily from their mobile or desktop and reach their dedicated financial advisor while having a positive impact on the preservation of the environment."

Since its launch, Helios has become one of the top players in the eco-banking market with 50.000 members in its community and almost 40 million euro worth of transactions.

Through its business model, the startup was able to avoid some 20.000 tons of CO2 and to invest one million euro in the ecological transition.

Angélique Elizé, investment director at RAISE Seed for Good, added that "Helios is a unique ecological banking model which is rethinking in depth its market through a transparent approach and responsible financing, thus playing a driving role in the fintech sector."
