ESG Today writes that the company estimated that this move would allow it to cut the use of virgin plastic by over 45 million tons.

Kraft Heinz showcased multiple sustainability commitments back in 2020 and the most recent ones include that of reducing plastic usage to reach a more ambitious goal of 100% recyclable, reusable or compostable packaging by 2025.

At the same time, company officials claim that by 2030, they want to halve the emissions, while reaching net-zero by mid-century.

Rashida La Lande, Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer at Kraft Heinz, said that "to achieve our ESG goals, including to reach net-zero GHG emissions, we can’t continue to do things as we have in the past. We are investing in innovative technologies and partnerships that are critical to helping us redesign packaging, eliminate unnecessary plastic, increase our use of recycled content, and influence the adoption of reuse models."
