According to Tech Radar, one new tool announced by Google las year that should help the company have a detailed overview on the energy production and consumption is called Time-based Energy Attribute Certificates (T-EACs) (certificates that show, on an hourly basis, that the used electricity comes from renewable sources).

Once these certificates will be deployed, they will help Google achieve their carbon-free energy goal and they will also provide information on an hourly basis regarding the availability of carbon-free energy.

This should be useful for energy consumers, too, as they will be able to understand their energy usage patterns.

For the past year, Google worked with partners worldwide in order to make T-EACs a technological standard in monitoring energy production and consumption on a time basis.

One of the partners the American company has been working with is Danish Grid operator Energinet, and the two companies worked together in order to develop a platform that would enable granular certification and to develop a applications such as Project Energy Origin Platform.

The American company wants to continue the expansion of these energy monitoring certificates to make sure it will be able to achieve its goal of running its operations on carbon-free energy by the next decade.
