As per ESG Today, ASICS officials stated that the new sneakers will have a measured lifecycle emission amount of just 1.95 kilograms per pair compared to the industry's standard of 14 kilograms. At the same time, the new GEL-LYTE III CM sneakers are the lightest CO2 emissions-focused model on the market at this time.

The new shoes will be available for purchase starting this week and to ensure that its environmental footprint remains low, the company incorporated a number of technologies, such as carbon-negative foam and a material made from bio-based polymer derived partially from sugarcanes. The upper fabric also incorporates more recycled polyester, showing the company's commitment for 100% recycled polyester use by the next decade.

Go Suzuki, Executive Officer, Senior General Manger for ASICS SportStyle said that "ASICS is committed to reaching the goal of becoming net-zero emissions by 2050. Not only is the GEL-LYTE™ III CM 1.95 sneaker the lightest CO2e emissions sneaker on market, but we are also confident that it is one of the most aesthetically compelling shoes, on top of being very comfortable for users’ daily activities."
