ESG Today reports that Apple used 25% recycled cobalt in the company's batteries for phones, laptops and tablets, among other products, back in 2022.

Apple executives also say that by 2025, magnets found in the company's products shall be manufactured using 100% recycled rare earth elements, while their motherboards will also incorporate more recycled materials.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said that "from the recycled materials in our products to the clean energy that powers our operations, our environmental work is integral to everything we make and to who we are. So we’ll keep pressing forward in the belief that great technology should be great for our users, and for the environment."

The new targets and efforts should enable Apple to achieve its ultimate goal for 2030, which is about each product being carbon neutral.
