As per ESG Today, in its efforts to reach net-zero by 2040, Amazon showcased a series of sustainability initiatives that the company followed, including the rollout of over 24.000 zero emissions vehicles and developing sustainable alternative materials for the company's products and packaging.

Amazon Chief Sustainability Officer Kara Hurst said that "it's taken thousands of engineers, researchers and scientists, hundreds of thousands of hours, and billions of dollars to get to where we are today... we know that achieving net-zero will require collective action from those that supply our operations. And we’re in a unique position to help drive significant global change."

The new platform will initially offer seven sustainability actions, including transportation, carbon-free energy and decarbonization for buildings and the company hopes that the included solutions will help its suppliers reduce their carbon footprint, as it already required them to present a net-zero roadmap.

Hurst added that "fighting climate change will take more than just Amazon, and we’re excited to work even more closely with our suppliers in the days and years to come."
