ESG Today writes that 2013-founded Matter provides technological solutions which help with capturing and recycling microplastics, especially in the wastewater and textile industries.
Company officials claim that as many as 700.000 microplastic fibers are being released by washing machines after each laundry cycle, with oceans already containing about 171 trillion microplastics, posing aa health threat for marine fauna and for people.
Adam Root, founder and CEO of Matter, said that "the combined support and expertise of our investors enables us to accelerate our work, moving beyond laundry into industrial-scale applications of our technology, and drive globally meaningful reductions in micropollutant emissions with confidence and speed."
Leonardo DiCaprio-backed climate tech venture fund Regeneration.VC is among those who participated in the 10 million USD financing round.
