Sony and Honda unveil their Afeela EV prototype at CES 2023

Sony and Honda announced at the CES 2023 technology fair their new electric car prototype under the Afeela brand.

The Afeela brand is a collaboration between the two manufacturers, and the first cars will be on the market in 2026.

According to Sony Honda Mobility representative Yasuhide Mizuno, the car will combine Sony's expertise in AI, entertainment, virtual reality and augmented reality with Honda's expertise in the automotive industry.

The car has over 40 sensors, including radars, cameras, lidar, for object detection and the ability to drive itself.

According to the representatives of the two companies, the prototype will be positioned in the premium area, next to cars from Mercedes, BMW, Volvo and Audi. Sony has announced that the software will work on a subscription basis, so some functionality will be available on a monthly basis depending on the paid subscription.
