According to The Next Web, VanMoof managed to raise 182 million dollars over the last few years and it became one of the most popular e-bike brands.

The Amsterdam-based company added the new bike models to the existing S2, X2, S3 and X3 models.

The new models have a simple design and are a little bit smaller than their older brothers, and the company decided to replace the X models from the 2 and 3 series with an A model this time.

VanMoof removed the Matrix display, which was embedded in the frame and displayed things like battery level and speed, and replaced it with LED rings on the handlebars, called Halo Rings.

The Next Web reports that the left ring is used to display the battery level and the right one shows the level of assist from the electric motor, although the layout is subject to change when the e-bikes will be made available to the public.

The new S5 and A5 models come with a USB-C charging port in the front and the bikes can be equipped with an optional phone mount.

The company also improved the electric motor as well with things like a new torque sensor, which is supposed to react to how hard you press on the pedals, meaning that the harder you press, the faster you go.

VanMoof says that the new motor is capable of delivering up to 250W and it is supposed to be very silent with its improved automatic gear shifter.

The battery capacity for both models are as follows: 487Wh battery for the S5, which is good for a range of 60-150 km, and 463Wh for the A5, which should offer anywhere from 55 to 140 km.

The price for the new e-bikes is 2,498 euros, according to the website of the company.

With around 200.000 claimed riders around the world, VanMoof plans to reach new customers with the new models, which is why it is ramping up the production as well.

This is important especially since the global e-bike market is expected to double in value between 2021 and 2027, from 26.3 billion dollars to 53.5 billion.

VanMoof builds their bikes in its own factories, mostly with customized parts, which is a great way of making a high quality bike, but in return it could prove problematic when it comes to repair and maintenance.

In order to reach as many customers as possible, the company launched stores in 50 locations around the world, including Europe, the United States and Japan.

VanMoof also plans to extend its Mobile Bike Doctors program, which essentially means that a team of professionals will be sent to fix your bike if the need may be.

The program operates only in Amsterdam at the moment, but there are plans to extend it to a worldwide level.
