„Fast Company” made a list of the most responsible companies when talking about protecting the CSR values. The most important thing is that companies should look beyond simple charitable programs or carbon-offset purchases and be innovative when talking about CSR.

Here are some good CSR strategies from all around the world:

Stripe

Stripe launched Stripe Climate, which allows any internet business to support carbon-removal technologies. Companies that run on Stripe can direct a portion of the revenues to carbon removal and Stripe does not charge for processing.

At the COP26 event in the fall of 2021, Stripe reported that more than 10,000 customers are now part of Stripe Climate. It’s identified nine projects that it’s backing—from submerging kelp farms onto the ocean floor to creating building materials out of CO2.

Doconomy

Doconomy is a Swedish startup that helps people understand the carbon footprint and environmental impact of our consumption habits. It developed partnerships that roll out these calculations to consumers and companies.

In 2021, it launched the 2030 Calculator, a tool that simplifies the process of calculating the carbon footprint of manufactured products at a high level of accuracy across (currently) 11 product categories.

Doconomy plans to launch additional product categories (including food and drinks and a pilot for consumer electronics products) for the 2030 Calculator by the end of 2021.

Lululemon

Lululemon is an athletic apparel company. In May 2021 it created the Earth Dye collection, relying on plant waste from beets and oranges rather than synthetic dyes. It has partnership with companies to experiment with using lab-grown polyester made of carbon emissons and to incorporate lab-grown leather.

Lululemon also invested in the bioengineering company Genomatica to find new ways to create plant-based fabrics such as a plant-based nylon.

Smartwool

Smartwool wants to be carbon-neutral and 100% circular by 2030. It develops performance wool and launched a program to take back old socks from customers and repurpose them into the filling for dog beds.

Smartwool launched also ZQRX, an effort to create sustainable wool using regenerative agriculture projects that sequester carbon on 2.4 million acres of sheep pasture in New Zealand. ZQRX has 460 farms participating, representing more than 3.7 million acres and 20 plus brands.

Oxford Properties

Oxford Properties is a real estate giant and is working on developing large net-zero buildings in Vancouver and Toronto.

In 2021 it completed the development of 260.000 square feet of rooftop solar across its buildings, represeing 26% of commitment to have 1 million square feet instaled by 2025.
