ESG Today writes that the new partnership will support Mercedes' Ambition 2039 strategy, which includes the goal to achieve net-zero for the lifecycle of new cars manufactured by 2039. Thus, Mercedes-Benz aims to increase the share of recycled contents in its cars by 40%.

Company officials, as well as representatives from TSR Recycling, will now look into recoverable materials from waste sources, such as steel, aluminum and polymers, to create new materials for car making.

Markus Schäfer, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, Chief Technology Officer, Development & Procurement, said that "together with our partners, we are working to increase the share of secondary raw materials in our vehicles and further improve process efficiency. We see great potential in urban mining as a cost-effective way to conserve valuable resources through the circular economy."
