SU7 is an all-electric model with excellent performance, with a 0-100 km/h time of under 3 seconds. The design of Xiaomi's first electric car, which uses the company's own set of electric motors, has taken inspiration from the Porsche Taycan.

The impressions from getting in the SU7 are very good. The car feels very premium and comfortable, even if we didn't get to drive it on the streets yet and its interior is very futuristic, while still keeping the familiarity of a car. The finishes are very well executed and the interior is covered with soft materials, leather and more planet-friendly replacements.

A very spacious electric sedan

SU7 is a very spacious ride, just as you would expect when looking at it from the outside and luggage space is both in the trunk, as well as in the frunk.

There are only a couple of buttons on the steering wheel, which I really liked myself, because other manufacturers tend to implement way too many features there that can distract you from driving. Thus, you have to left-right arrows on the right side for navigating the software, while on the left side, you have the adjusters for the adaptive cruise control system.

Under both these buttons are two scrolling wheels that can probably be used for adjusting the volume, navigating the system up and down, as well as for adjusting other features. Two more buttons are used for changing the drive mode and for deactivating the parking sensors, possibly.

The tablet, found in the center of the dashboard, is huge at 16 inches and is also where all the magic happens. The software found on the showcase vehicle was in Chinese, so we couldn't tell much from it, but what we do know is that it is a version of Xiaomi's HyperOS, used on the company's phones and tablets, as well.

A familiar software experience for Xiaomi users

On that tablet you have information for things such as the drive mode, temperature control, range, date and time, WiFi or data connectivity and installed applications. There is wireless charging available under this very screen and plenty of storage space in the center console.

The gear selector is found behind the steering wheel on the right side, just like on some Mercedes-Benz models or older Teslas.

Speaking of Tesla, the doors on the SU7 from the inside out open by pressing a button and pushing the door.

Among the other details that we know about the SU7 are the 101kWh battery can offer a range of up to 799 kilometers, Xiaomi claims, while the chassis can support batteries as large as 150kWh, which could take the range up to 1,126 km. As it is, the vehicle offers one of the best ranges in the EV industry and the charging speed is just as impressive.

With a powerful enough station, this vehicle can get back 510 km worth-of range in just 15 minutes, meaning that just a short break at a charging station on a long journey will get you nearly back to full.

We'll keep you posted with more details about the SU7 once Xiaomi reveals them.
