BMW sold 14.869 cars in July in Europe, compared to Tesla – 14.561. This is the first time in a long time that Tesla has been overcome by another automaker. BMW sold 308 more electric cars in Europe than Tesla, with a focus on ix1, i4, i5. Also, BMW increased its sales by 35% compared to the same period from 2023. The most popular vehicle in Europe from BMW was ix1 with 4.305 models sold.

Even if BMW overcame Tesla at the general sales, the Tesla Model Y remained the most popular individual model, with 9.544 units sold in July, followed by Volvo EX30 and VW ID.4. Tesla Model 3 sold only 4.694 units.

According to Electrive, the demand for electric cars rose in July with 2% Year of Year, but the interest declined taking into consideration the data from the entire 2024. The EV share was 14.6% in July 2023 compared to 13.5% in July 2024.

Growth was particularly high in Poland, Portugal and Slovakia, but there was also a slight increase in UK, Italy, Spain. The registration of EVs declined in Germeny, France, Belgium, Netherlands and Ireland.

The Dacia Sandero was the region’s high performer, with 22.400 units sold in July, an increase of 34% over last year.
