This letter accompanied the newsletter we've sent out on the 4th of April. You can also discover the sustainable businesses of the future on Green Start-Up by subscribing to our newsletter here.

For us kids, any foreign animation was cool, but this had something extra: it taught us about the dangers of further damaging our environment, but also that we have the solutions to make things better. Or, as Captain Planet always said once his work was done, “The power is yours!”.

I chose to start Green Start-Up’s first newsletter with this story because I do believe that the power is ours to turn our planet on a different path. We’ve started Green Start-Up having in mind the idea of promoting sustainability and sustainable business development in Romania and all over the world, and to bring to light the stories of those entrepreneurs, managers and ordinary people that fight to make a change.

We will continue to sit down with startups and companies from Romania, Europe, but also from all around the world, that are developing sustainable projects based on the latest technological innovations and which can help us do a better job, one little step at a time, to improve Earth’s health and our own quality of life and to ensure that our future generations still have a habitable place, with forests, seas, oceans, animals roaming free, and that they won’t just see all the things that we now take for granted in a display somewhere or in some old documentary.

At the end of this first letter, I want to leave you with the words from the opening narration of Captain Planet and the Planeteers. And don’t forget that the power to make a change is indeed ours.

“Our world is in peril. Gaia, the spirit of the Earth, can no longer stand the terrible destruction plaguing our planet. She sends five magic rings to five special young people […] When the five powers combine, they summon Earth's greatest champion, Captain Planet. The power is yours!”.

See you next week with some more interesting and “green” stories!
