Toyota accelerates battery production for the next generation of EVs

Toyota will invest about 5.6 billion USD in battery production for BEVs, with manufacturing of the cells starting sometime between 2024 and 2026 in Japan and the US.

According to Electrive, Toyota aims to boost its battery production to a total of 40 GWh.

This is most likely due to the fact that Toyota and luxury-owned Lexus want to launch 30 new battery-powered EVs by 2030.

Among the projects in which Toyota will invest are the plant of Prime Planet Energy & Solutions, which will be built in partnership with Panasonic as well as the North Carolina battery plant, which will receive a 2.5 billion USD funding.
