The European Union is one of the EV-exporting champions
Hybrid and electric car exports from the European Union increased by 69% in 2021 to a total value of 42 billion euros. This is the second time in a row when exports from the block were higher than the imports for this class of vehicles.
According to Reuters, full-hybrid exports rose to 22.9 billion euros last year, plug-in hybrids reached 6.8 billion euros and EVs, to 12.3 billion euros.
Battery and hybrid-powered vehicle imports also increased by 40% to 29 billion euros, according to Eurostat.
Britain imported the most full-hybrids and BEVs from the EU, with 26% and 28% respectively, while Norway and the US followed.
Regarding imports, EU countries chose Japan as the preferred market, as 23% of the imported full-hybrids came from Japanese manufacturers, such as Toyota and Honda, while China accounted for 43% of the imported battery-electric cars.
