Oppo's sustainability report for 2021: 95% less plastics for packaging in 2021

Oppo published its Sustainability Report for 2021, where the company details how it will try to implement new sustainable and ecological concepts for its products.

One of the concepts that the company already uses is "3R+1D", which enables manufacturers to use recycled materials for their packages, thus reducing the total package weight. Using this technology in 2021, Oppo was able to reduce the total package weight by 24% compared to 2019 for its smartphones. About 45% of the smartphone package was made using recycled fiber and the total amount of plastic used and the total amount of plastic used for product packaging went down by 95% when compared to 2019.

To improve the durability of its products, Oppo implemented their own battery technology, called Battery Health Engine, to prolong the lifespan of the batteries found in their products. With this technology, they says that users should expect battery health to be above 80% even after 1600 charging cycles.

Oppo also uses an exchange system in most markets to encourage recycling and reusing old smartphones.

The company also worked closely with partners such as National Geographic and Eco Rating in order to promote sustainability.

Oppo will be present in Barcelona at the Mobile World Congress event for 2022 with the message "Shape the Future", where they will be unveiling innovative mobile technologies, the latest advancements in AR and 5G and more.

They will also be holding a presentation at the event on February 28th, at 15:00 (Central European Time) and users will be able to watch the event on the company's official YouTube channel.
