Citroën launches an electric crossover to answer "market demand"

French carmaker Citroën recently presented the ë-C4 X, the crossover variant of the ë-C4, and the all-electric model will be available in most European markets, with a fossil-fuel version being offered for Eastern and Southern Europe.

According to Electrive, the electric powertrain of the vehicle will be made of a 100kW electric motor and a 50kWh battery which is offered by other cars in the Stellantis Group.

The expected range from this combination is around 360 kilometers, with charging speeds going up to 11kW on AC power and up to 100kW on DC charging points.

Citroën brand chief Vincent Cobée said that the car was developed due to customer reviews, stating that "many customers have told us they want an affordable, responsible and elegant alternative to the mass of hatchback and SUV offerings in the volume compact car segment. This is our best interpretation of that need – a vehicle that delivers all the comfort, technology, safety and value you expect from Citroën with the benefit of zero-emission, all-electric power."

While the French carmaker did not unveil the price of the car, it is expected to be more expensive than the ë-C4, which in Romania starts at just under 42.000 euros.
