A footballer launches a VC that enables celebrities to support impact startups

Chris Smalling, a football player for football club AS Roma, initiated an investment fund aimed at helping impact startups, with social and environmental solutions. With this project, the footballer wanted to encourage other celebrities to invest their money into startups that can make the world a better place.

The investment firm functions under the name ForGood. ”ForGood is a purpose driven family of investors, creators and storytellers committed to scaling ideas to build a better future. ForGood backs ambitious founders and high-growth planet-friendly businesses that can change the world for the better”, it is stated on the official website of the VC.

ForGood aims to bring together athletes, musicians and high profile personalities, together with startups and early stage businesses focused on tackling social and environmental issues.

According to Business Insider, celebrities can write checks up to 1.2 million dollars backing up the startups of their choice.

At this point ForGood has a portfolio of 11 startups with solutions ranging from plant-based meat production to natural laundry detergents.
