Membrion gets 12.5 million USD for sustainable industrial water filter systems

Industrial water solutions startup Membrion recently announced that it received 12.5 million USD worth of financing to support the development of new and improved wastewater recycling technologies.

ESG Today writes that Seattle-based Membrion enables companies who use industrial wastewater to recycle this resource more sustainably and affordably compared to traditional methods.

Ceramic distillation membranes can filter and recover as much as 98% of the water used even in the hardest conditions. Thus, there is no need for any thermal or chemical treatment or transporting the wastewater by truck. Some of the industries that can make use of this technology are microelectronics, oil and gas and the food production industry.

Greg Newbloom, founder and CEO of Membrion, said that "our technology is a game changer for creating circularity of valuable resources from challenging wastewater, including harsh metal-laden wastewater in the semiconductor industry. Membrion has had many successful pilot projects and now has multiple commercial installations coming on-line that will save each customer hundreds of thousands of dollars per year."

Samsung Venture Investment Corporation and Lam Capital are some of the VCs that invested in Membrion's solutions for sustainable water treatment.
