Hella to develop technologies for EVs at two new centers in Romania

German auto supplier Hella looks to expand its R&D network in Europe with new e-mobility centers in Oradea and Iași, with vehicle autonomy being one of the company's focus points.

According to Electrive, the Technical Center in Oradea will be oriented towards developing EV parts, such as battery management systems and voltage converters.

The city of Iași will be the center for autonomous driving development, as Hella will be developing the necessary software and also test 77 GHz radar sensors.

With ten specialists assigned to both centers, they began operation earlier this autumn and in the next three to four years, the German supplier says it aims to create 300 new jobs at these two locations.

Björn Twiehaus, Managing Director Electronics at Hella, said that "in Romania, we have already been represented for many years with essential high-performance electronics sites."

"For example, highly sophisticated control units are already being developed there today. In this respect, it was obvious for us to build on this network and further strengthen our presence in the country", he added.
