Ford to launch a new battery-powered commercial EV for European cities

American carmaker Ford recently announced the plans to release a new generation of the battery-powered Courier light commercial vehicle in Europe. For now, gasoline and diesel-powered variants of the van will also be available.

Reuters reports that the upcoming model of the Courier is 25% larger than the current generation, which will allow the van to transport heavier cargo.

The electric Courier will be destined for the European cities that are moving towards a net-zero shipping alternative. Because this differs from one country to another, Ford officials say that they will also make fossil-powered vans available on the continent.

Ford's electric Courier will be a direct competitor to Nissan's electric Townstar, which is a light commercial vehicle of the same category made also for European customers.

Nissan's offering has a power output of 120 HP and 245 Nm of torque, while the estimated range is 300 kilometers, enough even for a larger city.
